A Little Finish from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's another day of beautiful weather here at the Three Cats Ranch. We're expecting good weather through the weekend, and it has been whole-heartedly welcome by us rain-drenched Oregonians. When I finished my slow-stitching yesterday, I took a walk around the house to see what's new.

A squirrel was there to welcome me. S/he looks as if s/he's cold.

Just behind him/her, I noticed the bleeding heart is blooming. It has lots more flowers coming.

Smitty accompanied me on my walk. He checked for any buds on the poppies ...

Cooking and Sewing from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's another beautiful day today. I was able to get out early yesterday for some pictures.

The cherry trees are in full bloom right now, although the Bing (on the right) has a little catching up to do. The Black Tartarian (on the left) is beautiful right now.

The mason bees are hard at work. We don't see a lot of honeybees, but the mason bees are plentiful.

The blueberries are sprouting some flower buds. We planted these several years back. We still don't get enough blueberries to do much with them beyond ...

Transitioning from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's a bright sunny day, as it was yesterday. I'm very tempted to get outside for a walk this morning. Also this morning, I'm making some Turkey and Artichoke Stuffed Shells with Arrabiatta Sauce for our dinner with the neighbors tomorrow. It's not difficult to make, but there are several steps, and it is time-consuming. Tomorrow I'll make a salad and a dessert. Today, it's all about the pasta.

Yesterday morning, I finished up April's block for A Year in the Garden.

When I selected the floss colors for ...

A Big Finish from ... Cat Patches

Good afternoon, my friends. I'm late with today's post because I went to the Beaverton Farmer's Market with Erik and Mae this morning. I was on the hunt for rhubarb, and SCORE!! Happy about that. We stood admiring the beautiful daffodil bunches that were for sale while we waited for our breakfast.

We didn't purchase any of the daffodils, but Mae purchased some tulips and some starts for their vegetable garden.

Look at the pretty centers on these daffodils.

So, it was a successful trip to the market. Everyone got what they wanted. It was raining ...

A Slow Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We were expecting a wet week, but the weather yesterday was pretty nice. It was cloudy at times, but there was no rain. It's looking like the same kind of a day today. We're doing our grocery shopping today...a long list (sigh)...and a dry day for that is always appreciated. I didn't accomplish as much in the sewing room yesterday as I'd hoped. The day was all slow sewing, and so I didn't make any more progress on the borders for The Story of My Day. They'll get ...

Sewnday from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had some beautiful weather over the weekend, but it looks like we're in for a wet week. We're promised a lot of rain over the next several days. Oh well. It's nice while it lasts. At least it's warmer than it was a month ago.

Since I missed my NBS day on Sewturday, I designated Sewnday as an alternative NBS day, and that's what I did yesterday. All sewing, all the time. The morning started with me taking the first stitches on the second block for "S" is for Sew ...

Good Trouble from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Well. What a day we had yesterday. By day's end, Smitty was channeling our combined energy.

A lot has happened since we last chatted. Let's start with the sewing, shall we? I have some things to tell you about our day on Saturday, but I'll save that for the end. If you're not interested in hearing about the protest, please feel free to opt out when you see me climb up on my soapbox. For now...the sewing, and nothing but the sewing. And cats. Of course, there will be cats.

I ...

Nearing a Finish from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and thank goodness it's Friday! I'm getting my hair cut today, and there's just one other item on my list of to-do's. Aside from that, it'll be a mostly sewing day. We're going to see some nice weather over the next couple of days...always appreciated when I need to drive into town for any reason.

When I left you yesterday, Smitty was just settling in for a morning nap.

I was heading downstairs to take the first stitches on the next three blocks for "S" is for Sewing. These ...

Don't Be Fooled from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to April Fool's Day. Be very careful today, my friends. There are pranksters around every corner. I, myself, am guarding against any pranksters at the grocery store who will try to make me believe grocery prices have come down. Yeah, and eggs are 10 cents a piece. And I didn't just fall off the turnip truck, so there's that. Okay then. Having established all of that, it's probably safe to go grocery shopping. I'm no fool. (Looks over her shoulder to see if anyone is laughing and pointing.)

It ...

Free Day Friday from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a rare no-sewing day yesterday. We had some errands to run in town, including picking up our fifth wheel from the shop where repairs have been under way for months. Finally, the fifth wheel is back home where it belongs. The slides might be moving more smoothly than they did when it was new. As it turns out, some water damage had caused the floor under the heaviest of the slides to sag, and that was creating some drag on the whole unit as we brought it in and out. The bedroom slide had ...
